A man charged in the slaying of a Baldwin woman last month appeared in court on Wednesday.

Family members of Karissa Kunco were in the courtroom as Jordan Clemons appeared for a preliminary hearing on murder charges.

Kunco's family members wore T-shirts with her photo as they listened to testimony from several people.

Kunco's father told Channel 11 News that he hopes "Jordan rots in hell." He went on to call the suspect "scum."

"Justice starts today. I hope that piece of crap in there goes to hell," said Paul Kunco, Karissa Kunco's father.

During Wednesday's hearing, a friend of Clemons testified, telling the judge that Clemons called him after Kunco's death saying, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. She's dead."

Randol Taylor also said that Clemons told him he was going to kill himself and needed a ride from where Kunco's car was later found.

Taylor's testimony surprised most people inside of the courtroom, including Clemons' defense attorney.

"There was a statement made, 'She's dead.' Well that doesn't indicate I did anything or Clemons did anything. It's a statement. First I heard of that," said defense attorney Pete Marcoline.

Kunco's crashed car was found in Cecil Township on Jan. 12 with blood on the floor and backseat. Hours later, workers found her naked body five miles away, covered in leaves. Investigators said Clemons slit Kunco's throat and left her to die.

Clemons' mother and father also were in court Wednesday to support their son. His mother told Channel 11's Cara Sapida "my son is smart and kind, not the monster everyone is making him out to be."

Clemons also appeared in court on unrelated burglary charges.
